Venceréis, pero No convenceréis...

Esaerak dioena, beti izan naiz profeta neure herrian. Irabaziko duzu, baina ez duzu konbentzituko. Indar gordina asko duzulako irabaziko duzu, baina ez duzu konbentzituko konbentzitzea konbentzitzea esan nahi duelako. Eta borroka honetan falta zaizun zerbait behar duzu konbentzitzeko, arrazoia eta zuzena... Mikel de Unamuno Whatever the proverb says, I have always been a prophet in my own country. You will win, but you will not convince. You will win because you have plenty of brute force, but you will not convince because convincing means persuading. And to persuade you need something that you lack in this fight, reason and right..

"Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"

Bizitza, Askatasuna eta Zorionaren Bilatzea esaldi ezaguna da Estatu Batuetako Independentzia Adierazpenean. Adierazpenak bere Sortzaileak gizaki guztiei eta haiek babesteko sortu diren gobernuei eman dizkien eskubideen hiru adibide ematen ditu. "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" is a well-known phrase in the United States Declaration of Independence. The phrase gives three examples of the unalienable rights which the Declaration says have been given to all humans by their Creator, and which governments are created to protect.

Avoid the road of serfdom and the fatal conceit

Hayek "[ohartarazi du] plangintza zentralaren bidez erabaki ekonomikoak hartzeko gobernuaren kontrolaren ondoriozko tirania arriskuaz". Gainera, indibidualismoa eta liberalismo klasikoa uzteak ezinbestean askatasuna galtzea dakarrela dio, gizarte zapaltzaile bat sortzea.  Hayek "[warns] of the danger of tyranny that inevitably results from government control of economic decision-making through central planning." He further argues that the abandonment of individualism and classical liberalism inevitably leads to a loss of freedom, the creation of an oppressive society. Frederick Hayek-ek "harrokeria hilgarria" deitu zuen: kalkulu arrazionalaren eta borondate politikoaren bidez gizartea giza egoera nabarmen hobetuko duten moduetan diseina daitekeela uste zuen. Frederick Hayek termed the “fatal conceit” – the belief that through rational calculation and political will, society can be designed in ways that will significantly improve the human condition.

Mikel's Offers you can not refuse

"Ukatu ezin duen eskaintza bat egingo diot" hain da ospetsua eta naturala den ildoa, non zaila den hura inspiratzen duen ezer imajinatzea. Hala ere, The Godfather idazterakoan, Puzo XIX.mendeko Honoré de Balzac idazle frantsesean inspiratu zen, zehazki 1835eko Le Père Goriot eleberrian. Le Père Goriot-en esaldi batek irekitzen du Puzoren liburua, eta une batean Balzac-en eleberriko pertsonaia batek beste pertsonai bati esaten dio: “Kasu horretan, inork baztertuko ez lukeen eskaintza bat egingo dizut”, eta horrek ezaguna dirudi. “I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse” is such a famous and natural line that it’s hard to imagine anything inspiring it. However, when writing The Godfather, Puzo was inspired by 19th-century French author Honoré de Balzac, specifically his 1835 novel Le Père Goriot. A phrase from Le Père Goriot opens Puzo’s book, and at one point a character in Balzac's novel tells another character, “In that case, I will make you an offer tha...
